Whilst there are some great deals to be had, some of them are quite predatory. This made me wonder, **why aren't those predatory journals advertising any black Friday deals?** I’m surprised predatory journals aren’t offering Black Friday sales on their fees to submit manuscripts. After all, they do have a history of offering "sales". Perhaps it should all be decentralized by a DAO ([which recently tried to by the US constitution](https://www.wsj.com/articles/copy-of-constitution-sells-for-43-2-million-as-crypto-group-is-outbid-11637285144?ref=theplasticsfella.com)). It's fair to say at this point, there is a general consensus in the plastic surgery community on the current negative state of journals and publications. It's worth reading the entire article [here](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5977964/?ref=theplasticsfella.com). **Here are some stats πŸ‘‡** - \~800 surveyed (423 surgeons, 187 therapists, 187 patients) - 53% of Plastic surgeons prefer to leave K-wires exposed - 34% of Plastic surgeons have no preference - 10% of Plastic surgeons bury their K-Wires. **The decision-making process πŸ‘‡** - Infection concern β†’ more likely to bury K-wire - Want it easily removed β†’ less likely to bury K-wire - Aesthetics, service provision, economic impact don't influence decisions. **Patient's perspective πŸ‘‡** - Exposed K-wires β†’ more concerned about infection. **ConclusionπŸ‘‡** - Decisions to bury or expose K-wire are based on dogma rather than evidence. - WIRE Research Collaborative published a [protocol](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34140031/?ref=theplasticsfella.com) for further research. ### How did P'Fella come across this article??
